2011/2012 Season of the NC Harp Ensemble

We are looking forward to welcoming a wonderful group of harpists to participate in the second season of the North Carolina Harp Ensemble! The NC Harp Ensemble is open to professional and student harpists of all ages and skill levels. All rehearsals will be held in the Greensboro/Winston-Salem area and a small membership fee is required for participation. Once we have received a participate's application and membership fee, part assignments and music will be mailed to them (beginning in late July) to be prepared for the first rehearsal in September. Please review all of the information posted below and contact us for an application form and additional information!

2011/2012 Season Calender

Monthly ensemble rehearsals are held on Saturdays from 10:00am-2:00pm in Greensboro, NC. Troubadour Ensemble (beginner/intermediate) members are expected to arrive early to set-up (after 9:15am) and tune their harps prior to rehearsal beginning promptly at 10:00am. Advanced Ensemble members are expected to arrive at 11:00am to set-up and tune their harps prior to the full ensemble rehearsal beginning promptly at 11:30am. The Troubadour Ensemble may leave at 12:45pm after the group performance class and Advanced Ensemble members will continue rehearsing until 2:00pm.

Each ensemble member is responsible for bringing their own harp, bench/stool, music stand, ensemble music, and pencil to each rehearsal. If you are unable to make a rehearsal or performance, please notify us as soon as possible. Full participation is strongly encouraged to fully benefit from ensemble participation.

10:00am-11:00am - Troubadour Ensemble (Beginner/Intermediate)
11:00am-11:30am - Break
11:30am-12:30pm - Full Ensemble
12:30pm-12:45pm - Break/Group Performance Class
12:45pm-2:00pm - Advanced Ensemble

Spring Concert - June 11, 2011

On Saturday, June 11, 2011, The North Carolina Harp Ensemble performed their Spring Concert at Congregational United Church of Christ in Greensboro. We performed a variety of music, ranging from Scottish dances to Latin American rhythms to Japanese folk songs! Thank you to all our Ensemble members, family, friends, and supporters for a wonderful inaugural year of the North Carolina Harp Ensemble! We have also enjoyed wonderful holiday performances at the Festival of Trees in Winston-Salem benefiting Brenner Children's Hospital and WhiteStone: Masonic and Eastern Star Community in Greensboro. We plan to continue to grow our program, encouraging more harpists to join our group, as we promote excellence in musical performance on the harp! We'll see you in the Fall!

The NC Harp Ensemble, founded in 2010, is directed by Jacquelyn Bartlett, Professor of Harp at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and Appalachian State University. Open Rehearsal - Feburary 19!

Potential ensemble members are invited to an open rehearsal on February 19, 2011 from 10:30am-12:30pm in the Sanctuary of Congregational United Church of Christ, 400 West Radiance Drive, Greensboro, NC 27403. Potential ensemble members can come listen to the ensemble rehearsal and perform a solo for the group. If you already know in advance that you would like to participate in the ensemble, you can also participate in this rehearsal. We will mail the selected music in advance and let you know the pieces that we will rehearse, so you will be able to focus your practice time. Our Inaugural Season!


Hello everyone! The NC Harp Ensemble is getting ready for our Spring season! We celebrated our inaugural season with several wonderful performances, including ensemble performances at the Festival of Trees benefiting Brenner Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem, WhiteStone: Senior Living Community in Greensboro, and Abernethy Laurels in Newton! We were honored to work with six outstanding young musicians whose musical growth was evident. Included in this blog post are a few photographs from our performance at WhiteStone and an outline of the musical program we presented. Our performance at WhiteStone included a selection of ensemble works and solos presented by our group of outstanding musicians! Thank you students and parents for all of your hard work and overwhelming support this past year!

Festival of Trees

Enjoyed a wonderful performance Saturday night at the Festival of Trees benefiting Brenner Children's Hospital at Dixie Classic Fairgrounds in Winston-Salem! Thank you performers, parents, and supporters for making our first performance a huge success! We wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!
