Introducing the NORTH CAROLINA HARP ENSEMBLE!

We are very excited to offer beginning to advanced harp students of all ages an opportunity to participate in the inaugural season of the North Carolina Harp Ensemble! The North Carolina Harp Ensemble is directed by Jacquelyn Bartlett, who serves as the professor of harp at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and Appalachian State University. Our mission is to provide professional harp ensemble instruction to student harpists throughout North Carolina, allowing them to benefit from participating and performing with an ensemble, which is an essential component to any musician's training.

There are numerous benefits to participating in an ensemble, which include:

• Reinforcing technique, rhythm, and musical concepts learned in private lessons.
  
• Valuable ear training as each member tries to listen to all of the parts simultaneously.


• Skills learned through ensemble playing lead to better solo performances.


• Performing in an ensemble helps take the pressure off the individual, which is a great way to ease students into public performance.


• It's an easy way for students to make friends and meet other harpists!
  

Ensemble members also have an opportunity to participate in the group performance class component of our rehearsals, where students are able to perform harp solos they are working on for each other in an informal and supportive atmosphere. This offers students an opportunity to share what they are learning in their private lessons with other harp students, as well as exposes ensemble members to a variety of solo harp repertoire.
